Beijing
Endless roads and high rise apartments,
make up the green lined parallels,
as feet trod on the golden hills,
and tiny bells are rung awakening the birds.
Dirt streaks down the windows filled with cloth,
as jade and silk, and pearls find pride,
bringing food to the stomachs,
of the former emperors family.
Having many concubines,
as in every man’s hopes and dreams,
erased by time honored love,
someone who can be your Feng Shui.
wow, that photo is gorgeous. what does it feel like to see it in its context? we always see these beautiful images neatly presented in an article or on the tv. did you write that poem? very nice.
Yes the whole Forbidden City was like that. In fact most of the places in Beijing have that appearance because a lot of it was from the Ming Dynasty. They have what I call scholar rocks like the ones we saw at the botanical gardens in Wash D.C. except these are much larger. You see them just about everywhere. Our guide said most of them come from one mountain area in China.
I wrote the poem while sitting in the airport waiting to go to Nanjing. It was a reflection on the time we spent in Beijing.
wow, I’m excited you got to see some scholar rocks….real ones, and huge ones. cool
great poem. I’ll send it to my mom.
