We had another wonderful day touring Beijing. We started with a jade artisan tour, then went to Shisan Ling, the Ming tombs where 13 of the 16 Ming dynasty emperors are buried. After this we went to eat traditional Chinese food with seven to eight dishes on a lazy susan everyone shares from. Yummy! There was also a cloisonne workshop here. After that we went to the Ming Great Wall of China and hiked to the top where Tower 13 is located. The great wall does a circle here because it is in a valley. The section we hiked was very steep but with some sweat and perseverance all three of us made it to the top within our time limit. We saw some incredible views. Afterwards we headed to the Quanjude Roast Duck restaurant where again we ate many dishes of Chinese food topped off by the carving of a Peking duck and eating the meat in thin dumpling wraps with onion and duck sauce. We left stuffed and then attended the theatre production called “The Legend of Kungfu”. Another great day but we are exhausted. Lydia Freeman is doing a blog also, here is hers. http://lydiastravels.wordpress.com Good night!
